The Church of Saint James the Apostle is the oldest shrine in Szczyrk. It was built between 1797 and 1800, on the main road to Bielsko. It is a wooden log cabin construction, covered with shingles. The tower is crowned with a distinctive tent-roof over the upper chamber. The interior is baroque and comes primarily from the liquidated Norbertine abbey church in Nowy Sącz.
The Shrine of Our Lady of Szczyrk is situated
at an altitude of 670 meters above sea level ,
in the picturesque hills belonging to the massif
of Klimczok. The tradition relates that at the
end of the nineteenth century apparitions of
Mother of God were to happen here. The
construction of the church started in 1912. It
was completed after the First World War. In
addition to the sanctuary, which is a
pilgrimage destination, there is a blue hiking
trail which runs from Szczyrk to Klimczok.
Skrzyczne is above all a true paradise for skiers, who enjoy here the great conditions for winter sports enthusiasts. The slopes of Skrzyczne have over 10 kilometres of various ski trails of the Central Sports Centre – The Centre for the Preparations of Olympic Games in Szczyrk (Centralny Ośrodek Sportu – Ośrodek Przygotowań Olimpijskich w Szczyrku), including a route approved by FIS.
